THE BRIEF
Bar Nouvelle was envisioned as a tribute to the vibrant cultural scene of 1920s Paris. Inspired by the legendary salons of Gertrude Stein and the intellectual cafés frequented by the Lost Generation, this bar concept seeks to evoke the dynamic energy of the time—where absinthe flowed, champagne bubbled, and groundbreaking ideas were exchanged between artists, writers, and thinkers. As a sibling to Hemingway Bar, Bar Nouvelle builds upon the same spirit of creative connection, this time through a lens focused on the cultural melting pot of Paris during its golden age.
THE SOLUTION
We embraced the essence of 1920s France, blending the refined elegance of the era with the lively and often rebellious energy that defined the Lost Generation. The design for Bar Nouvelle was rooted in the idea of a space that fosters creative conversation, a place where the boundaries between art, literature, and culture blur into one dynamic experience. Much like the famous cafés and bars Hemingway and his contemporaries frequented, Bar Nouvelle is a place where culture is not just consumed but created. We wanted to evoke a sense of nostalgia and artistic sophistication, while remaining inviting and timeless.
DESIGNING THE EXPERIENCE
The logo and overall branding for Bar Nouvelle draw heavily on the Art Deco influences of 1920s France, evoking the bold yet elegant geometry of the period. The design is refined, yet unpretentious, much like the intellectual energy that fueled the salons and cafés of the era. We carefully crafted every detail, from the typography to the color palette, to create a space that feels both historically rooted and artistically forward-thinking—a modern homage to Parisian cultural heritage. The atmosphere is one of warmth, intellectualism, and creative spirit—where conversations flow as freely as the drinks, and the pursuit of new ideas is always in the air.
